Karl Lagerfeld Taps Mica Arganaraz and Baptiste Giabiconi for Fall 2016 Campaign

Karl Lagerfeld’s impeccable fashion taste strikes again. The acclaimed fashion designer and photographer has just unveiled his Karl Lagerfeld fall 2016 ad campaign, for which he tapped iconic models Mica Arganaraz and Baptiste Giabiconi as the best stars to channel the mood of his collection.

Just back from his biggest success in Rome, where he presented the dreamlike Fendi Couture fall 2016 collection on the Trevi Fountain, Karl Lagerfeld took some time to concentrate on his namesake label, unveiling what could be regarded as the coolest fall campaign ever.

When it comes to tapping the fanciest and coolest brand ambassadors, Karl Lagerfeld is undeniably a pro, with always new secret weapons up his sleeves to enchant us with (he chose Willow Smith as Chanel’s brand ambassador less than a few weeks ago).

To make things even more appealing, he is also often physically involved in the ‘making of’ the campaign, as his passion for photography is little by little taking over his job as a fashion designer and is more and more at the core of his already astounding career. Our beloved and eclectic Karl Lagerfeld is in fact the one ‘to be blamed’ for the Karl Lagerfeld fall 2016 ad campaign too, as he is the one who skillfully captured the iconic models in a dream array of exquisitely balanced black & white photos.

All sealed with Lagerfeld’s signature firm and a hand-written caption that makes each photo look like a postcard, the campaign combines Mica Arganaraz’s and Baptiste Giabiconi’s stunning personalities with the collection’s edgy and cool ensembles, among which the designer and photographer chose the fanciest and most street-style-inspired looks.

To enhance this contrast, Arganaraz and Giabiconi channel natural looks both for what concerns the hairstyle and makeup, leaving it up to their messy locks and glam rock leather jackets to bring out their confidence and unconventional beauty.

The campaign also manages to translate the Karl Lagerfeld FW 2016-17 collection’s aesthetics into pictures, making overall genderless and strong street-style allure triumph in the photos. Arganaraz is thus seen posing not only in the coolest leather jacket ever (even Fonzie would be jealous!), but also wearing a covetable suit jacket, a pair of polished pants and a cozy sweater.

The collection’s accessory line, along with the iconic Lagerfeld-inspired slip-ons, sharp-cut handbags, glam-rock watches and sunglasses, is at the focal point of most of the pictures too, and is inevitably accentuated by the black and white contrasting lights.

Arganaraz has even received what could be regarded as the ultimate ‘fashion blessing’, as Lagerfeld described her as “exactly the kind of girl I like. She’s Argentinean. She’s very chic, very natural, very spontaneous. I think she is the girl of the moment.”
